Dog weeing when excited!

I need a bit of advice.

In the past week, my chihuahua has started weeing whenever we get a visitor, or when i come home. Even if she's just been for a wee outside, she'll still wee a little bit. I'm guessing it's due to excitement?

Today I knew we were having a visitor, so I crated her until they'd been here for 30 mins or so, then I let he out, thinking it would give her a chance for the excitement to die down. She ran into the lounge to greet one of our guests and weed on the sofa, then the carpet. So I quickly picked her up to carry her into the garden and said 'no weeing' and she weed as I was carrying her. When she came back in from the garden, she was embarrassed and hid in her crate.

Help! What do i do?

How old is she?

My Dachshund did that at 1 year-old, but only at the initial geeting. She grew out of it.
Aftert 30 minutes in the crate and she hadn't done anything, try taking her immediately outside. I never had my pups wee in my arms.

My female dogs will wee at excitement when greeting me or others. So I just take them straight outside and they do their excitement wee out there, problem solved. If you take them outside straight away to greet then I expect you'll have solved the problem.

If you've had them in the crate for 30 minutes and then let them out, they still have the excitement of the physical greet to get over iykwim?

Is she really young? One of my dogs has all but grown out of it now she's 2 and our 6 month old puppy does it less than she used to.

She's 1 year old exactly- her birthday was last week!

I think I will have the back door open, so that as soon as a visitor comes, i can open the front door to greet the visitor, then quickly carry the dog to the back door so she can wee outside.

It's good to know your dogs grew out of it! It was mortifying today, especially as they were saying how cute she was just before she did it!

My old girl used to do this all the time, can be v embarassing. I never worked out a way around it and as others have said I used to take her straight outside and greet her out there. Visitors soon got used to it too, and I told them to completely ignore her or let her come out onto the step/pavement and greet them out there.

Mine wees a few drops with excitement when I come home and sometimes in the morning when I come downstairs. She is embarrassed / worried and puts her tail down. I never tell her off though. I think it has nothing to do with actually needing a wee, as she can do it even if she's just been out (we have a dog flap). I'm not really bothered about it, but we do have to steam clean the rug and use antibacterial spray regularly.
