I was playing tuggy with the dog. Made the mistake of letting the rope lay across my hand. Dog grabbed at it, and nipped the fleshy bit of my thumb. He hasn't broken the skin, but fuck me it hurts. I have two white welts, and the area is red and swollen. He is blissfully unaware, as my MIL was in the room at the time and I didn't want to alert her (she's nervous of dogs, this would send her in to a panic). I didn't react, and didn't yell, so I don't think he even knows he got skin. Faaaaaaaark :(

I recently bought new, longer tug toys as i realised pup's mouth is now bigger and i was always getting bitten. Now we have more distance between my fingers and her teeth! I feel your pain.

I got a fab long tuggy from a FB shop called Tuggy Time. Lovely colours and they're made of fleece so they're nice and soft - my dog hesitates to really bite down on tuggies if they're too hard.

Even better all proceeds go to rescues :)

We don't do tuggies here as Gymdog goes a bit mental and sees the tuggy and potentially the tuggy holder as prey. Not nice. Not to be encouraged.

I feel your pain though Chickens. I have discovered that dog bites, albeit accidental ones, albeit not breaking the skin, really really hurt! I have ever had bruising like it when I got bitten on the leg

never not ever

It does bloody hurt, doesn't it? Here, have a medicinal Wine.

I also don't use tugging toys but one of our GS pups took a liking to my calf a few months ago. It bloody hurt even through jeans. Glad to report though that our giant GS pulled back immediately when he felt DDs hand instead of the other dog's neck whilst playing last week. Didn't even apply pressure, wonderful dog.
