Erm. Humping <cough>

Jas was neutered at 6 months. He's now 19 months old, and just tried to hump my slipper. He hasn't done this ever since he was neutered. Just curious, but, er, is this usual? My MIL is here and it's terribly embarassing trying to dislodge a determined spaniel without drawing attention.

It is normal of all dogs to suddenly decide to voraciously hump things in polite non doggy people company.

My female was spayed at 6 months too and is a similar age to yours Chickens. She has a 'special friend' that she humps when the mood is on her. She's had the toy since she was a puppy and is totally faithful to it. Definitely humps more when we have visitors of the non doggy variety. Bloody Big Book.

Our (female, spayed) dog humps anything and everything when excited. Most often when our boys are play-wrestling they'll get leapt on by madly humping dog

Why would it concern your MIL? It's nature. Does she know where your DH comes from?

Anyone remember the really sad thread from someone who had a neighbour with a collie that never went out, and the owner used to let her other small dog hump its face? Sorry, don't know why I have mentioned that but I often think of that poor dog and feel very sad.

My darling spaniel is far too well behaved for that sort of behaviour. He prefers to just do the arse dragging across the carpet thing when we have guests.

Some people think that an important part of social naicities is not having biology thrust upon them, particularly in the manner of madly flapping ears, a smug grin and a violated furry slipper.

Whilst well mannered they are not the best house guests for a home containing a teenage spaniel.

I have always had females, and they only humped each other when they were both in heat. We took no notice, but when we had visitors, they were very uncomfortable with it, so we let them out into the garden.

My neutered 3 yo humps my leg if he has had a particularly yummy dinner (roast beef is fave). Follows me round the house trying to get a hold of me, if he does he humps a couple of times then gets a confused look......

My OH thinks it is hillarious and calls encouragement to him....(Go on my son...)
