My dog has been attacked by another dog twice now

Just come back from the evening walk with the Dog. While we were out another dog attacked him. This same dog attacked him a couple of months ago. Last time I didn't do anything about it as I didn't know if it was a one off for this dog or what. I also asked around last time and heard that it my dog wasn't the first to be attacked.

Both times my dog was on a lead and this dog wasn't. It was also in the same field. Can I report it? If so who to?

My dog seems fine now apart from some war wounds (a couple of scratches here and there) so Im not worried about him this time, but what if it happens again? Tonight I was just walking into the field and this dog and owner had just passed the opening so I didn't know they were there until this dog had part of my dog in its mouth.

I have a staffy and they say Staffies are the problem dogs Angry Well certainly not in my case. He's the first dog Ive ever owned so sorry if Im asking a really obvious question.

Repirt it to the police. I get so annoyed with things like this. Other dogs have absolutely ruined my lab, she now gets her hackles up when a dog she doesn't know runs up to her. Why you ask - because she has been attacked by four different dogs in the space of 2 years - one of which has got her 3 tines. Every time its happened, she has been on the lead and the other dog hasn't!

The one who has attacked her 3 times is a dalmation that has nearly killed 2 other local dogs. It has a court order against it that it is supposed to wear a muzzle when out in public, but instead of putting a muzzle on it the idiotic owner has it off the bloody lead!!

So yes, in short, definately report it. It ruins your dog and can make them vicious if they keep getting attacked.

How did the other dogs owner react?

Thanks for the reply. Ive sent an email to the police with attached pictures explaining what happened. I decided it was better to email them to report it so they could deal with it when they could.

The other dog owner just finally managed to get his dog off mine and uttered something about being to old to fight with dogs. He did say sorry, but didn't really act all apologetic just said the words. I didn't look at him. DH was furious when I got back. Should I have said something to the other owner like "shouldn't he be on a lead" type of thing. Ive got nothing against dogs not being on leads, but I do think that if they are liable to attack they should be on a lead.
