Hi all...

Just had my wee Jack Russell at the vet today and have been recommended to change her food. Have purchased a brand called Warringtons from Pets at Home, one of 2 the vet recommended. What do you all feel your dogs? She had Bakers before but the vet said this was 'cheap and cheerful' lol

Feel=feed even! And I don't think she meant the 'cheap and cheerful' in a good way!

Do you mean Wainwrights? I've never used it but it is definitely a step up from Bakers, which is the doggy equivalent of a diet of Haribo, Fruit Shoots and Greggs sausage roll.

ClaimedByMe · 30/01/2013 22:37

I feed mine barking heads dried food mixed with pedigree chum, she has teeth issues so needs a wee bit wet food to help her with the dried food!

Bakers tat is full of lots of fillers which is why you get huge pops with it. If you switch to a better quality food you will notice smaller poos as more of the food is actually used in your dogs body,

Sorry forgot to say I like Arden grange.

I used to feed mine Bakers but then he got an awful skin complaint so I changed it to Fish 4 Dogs. He's been on that for about three months now and although he was on hunger strike for two weeks and wouldn't touch it (he loved his Bakers) he now gobbles it up as soon as I put it down. His skin hasn't improved but I've seen an improvement in his coat.

It's more expensive but worth it IMO.

tanfastic · 30/01/2013 22:44

And his poos are a lot firmer Grin

My dog has itchy skin and digestive problems so I feed her Vers Kitchen dry food by vet Joe Inglis (TV vet). It has made a huge difference.

frillynat81 · 30/01/2013 23:12

Basically she needs to lose a bit of weight and her poos need firmed a bit (she's needed to have her anal glands done twice in the past 6 weeks - TMI I know!!!).

The problem is that baker's isn't actually that cheap - so its easy to think that it can't be that bad - it is, it's got awful additives in it.

which dog food is a really good site for working out the best dog food for your money.

Mooycow · 31/01/2013 10:05

Wagg, firm poo, shiny coat, less rubbish and cheap as chips.
Bakers like giving a child smarties wee watch them run,

HousewifeFromHeaven · 31/01/2013 10:10

I feed Arden grange dry with James wellbeloved wet pouch

Itsnotahoover · 31/01/2013 10:20

I'm feeding Orijen at the minute, but also have had good results with Fish 4 Dogs, Collards and Arden Grange.
