Turtle Mats - how good are they? Or is there a better alternative?

At the moment we have a mat at the back door and a towel which we make our dog sit on and wipe our paws - wondering if we got a turtle mat would that cut out the need for the towel? Dont want to spend lots of cash if it doesnt help so thanks for any advice.

I have one, but was for me tramping in and out of the garden. My main disappointment is that it moves on my carpet underneath and not being thick as other mats it rucks up into folds as well. I take my muddy boots off on it, so can't comment on dogs paws.

I have them front and back (2 at each)- the front door ones have the problem digerd mentions of moving on the carpet, but the back door on hard surface stays put.

I reckon they're good but not magic - ie under normal conditions they take off enough mud I don't need to wipe paws, but if its really muddy then he'd need wiping as well.

Ooh that sounds encouraging - ours would be on wood so no problem with slippage Smileand dog isnt usually that dirty. Also thinking about getting a dog flap so that she can come and go [instead of barking to get in and out every 10 seconds and driving us mad]. Because of that though we wont be able to keep wiping her so thought a mat would help.

Have a look at "Hug Rugs" I think they are a similar idea, but a bit cheaper. I don't think they would ruck up. I have no dogs, but have a toddler...

I think with dogs, it very much depends on how much they like digging in the garden. And how clean you keep the patio and how wet it is outside.
My daughter has a mat inside her cat flap < she has 7>, but she hasn't mentioned what make and if it's good.

They don't slip on wooden floors, we used to get our dog to walk in circles onit but still need to wipe paws he liked to kick dirt up as high as he could though. Love mine machine washable and rumble drier proof.

Tumble obviously

I've just been looking today at some mats as we just have one of those coconut hair type ones and a towel. Will have a look at the ones mentioned. Puppy won't let me wipe her paws so I get her to walkround and round on the towel.

My DD bought a Turtle mat - an animal one- for cats, and says it's excellent.
They have them for dogs with paws on them. Hers is on a tiled floor

We've got them at front door (wood) and back (tile) and I do rate them they wash really well. They stood up to SpicyDog but the pup is a digger/general messy terrier and I do have to wipe his feet on wet days.

My dog ate mine.
