Teaching nursery children dog safety in Surrey

I work in a nursery and have noticed whilst going on outings that lots of the children do not know how to behave safely around dogs, especially given that these are unknown dogs.

Does anyone know of any trainers/professionals who could come into the nursery and teach them how to be safe, or even how I'd go about trying to find such a person? I don't have any dogs so have no idea if this is even possible but I really think the children would benefit from it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No suggestions, but I think it's a fantastic idea.

The dogs trust do something like this, but it's a trip there. My DSs school went because he's terrified of dogs and his friend loves them so much she throws herself on any passing by (ASD)

There's some info here you might be able to use to do something in-house:

And I could try posting that link properly...

Don't know where you are in Surrey but perhaps a trip to www.hershamhounds.org.uk/ or perhaps they could bring one or two dogs to you...might be worth giving them a ring?

Thank you everyone for your advice; I emailed the local PAT contact who passed me along to various people but we now have a visit booked in for later this month!

Thanks to you all.
