Name ideas for black lab pup please?

After all my threads we have decided to rehome a pup, tomorrow we are going to look at a litter of black lab pups in hope to reserve a boy (they are not ready until next week), the dd's are arguing over names, any ideas what we can call him?

Also any lab advice and what to look for when picking a pup? we are hoping that we can train him to be an assistant dog for dd2 when we are out and about, she has Autism, so we need to pick a good pup.

Oreo? Considering labs love of food, might not be a bad name

Dd1 is loving Orio as some of the pups have a tiny white strip on their chests .

Having said that, I am usually a fan of meeting and getting to know an animal before I try to name it. We'd had our cat Spike for 4 weeks before he got his name.

Have some possibilities lined up, but also see what your chosen pup is like. No point setting -your- the kids' hearts on a name and then it not fitting your pet's character. I know someone who had a very quiet and shy Cocker Spaniel called Bouncer. Never met a less bouncy dog in my life!!!

Not to put a dampener on things but where are you getting the puppy from ? Most good breeders would not have pups available at 7 weeks old ,indeed many would have had reservations prior to the pups being born . Wouldn't want you to end up with a dodgy dog . Also Dodge is quite a nice name !

I know not of what I speak but is there anyone who trains dogs to be assistance dogs that you could call?

Have you called any of the many Labrador Clubs or rescues? There seem to be a ton of them out there! (to help you know what to look for)

As for names - Jack?

where does it say the pups are seven weeks. Op says rehome so I assumed rescue?

The pup is 7 weeks old (8 weeks old this weekend), we have looked at one place that runs courses to train family pets as assistant dogs for children/adults with Autism, i am looking for puppy classes too (but struggling to find anything near by) . We plan to socialise him as soon as we can (10 days afte his jabs), we will be taking him to the 'puppy party' at our vets and hopfully then can tell us about local puppy clases.

Our Staffie is great with both the dd's but she's not as good when we are out and doesn't travel well, so i will need to get this pup used to going in the car straight away and walking well on the lead (eventualy next to dd2).

As for names, at the moment 'Oreo' is top of the list with the dd's, though i like dyson .

I must be stronger with training as we slipped up a little with out other dog and she has now taken over the sofa, idealy i would like them to sleep on a dog bed and not on the furniture (so i must try not to be soft).

And they are rescue pups (so are in a home with foster parents) so kind of re-homing. They were seperated from mum today as she went to her forever home.

Oreo is a great idea, also Scully, Ben, Churchill, Winston, Bourbon, Jack (Daniels), Treacle is lovely too. How about Orson (Welles), Bradley, Cooper (Coop), Bryn, Humphrey...
