Rescue dogs

We are currently fostering a King Charles Cavalier until the Summer. We have been thinking about getting a dog for some time and having this dear little dog has really made us want to offer a home to a rescue dog. We have a 3 year old DS and DD10. It is proving quite a challenge to find a rescue dog which is suitable for young children (although I quite understand why as the dogs welfare must come first).
Does anyone know of a rescue in Kent/Sussex/Surrey where the rescue match up the right family for the dog (rather than guessing yourself by looking at a dog photo/description on a website)? Thank you.

have a look at the Labradoodle Trust. It's a charity that re-homes poodles and poodle crosses. The clue is in the name, it was set up to re-home labradoodles, a breed that suffered from becoming too popular. It rescues and re-homes any dog with a bit of poodle in it (the woman who runs it has worked with poodles for many years). All dogs go from the owner to a foster home, where they live as part of the family and the foster carer can assess the dog so it can be matched to the right family. The trust works across the country. The trust tends not to place large labradoodles with children under 8 but all dogs are matched carefully with families. I have a labradoodle and a cockerpoo, both absolutely lovely temperaments and excellent with children
