Harness for skinny escape artist?

Spicypup is a whippet x JRT. At 4 1/2 months he is small JRT size but whippet skinny.

I really need to get him a harness as although he's walking nicely on lead most of the time, in high stimulus environments he gets very over excited at the start and I'm worried about his neck.

I've tried a couple of cheap harnesses to see us until he's fully grown but he can wriggle free. Can anyone recommend a make that will stay on him? I'm looking at Dog Games perfect fit but would consider anything else suitable. Price not a big issue as I've now accepted I have to swallow it

My terrierX who is quite slim doesn't get out of his Doxlock harness ,and they are kind to necks ,which is why we got it. He used to escape from lots of previous harnesses by backing out of them IYSWIM.

I have perfect fit harness for my dog. She is stocky though. I phoned them up to have a chat and they were very helpful.

Thanks both. Will give dog games a call and look at Doxlock, which I hadn't seen before. First wear of any new one will be with a halti link though I think, just in case. I don't think he tries to escape it, just works his way out wriggly around when excited, which is exactly when I most need him under control!

I have a Dog Games perfect fit for my runty Affenpinscher and a friend got one (on our recommendation) for her big lurcher. I can't praise them highly enough, they are so helpful and will replace until you get just what you need with fast turnaround. They don't pay me, honest but my other 2 dogs have her standard harnesses as well and I've always been impressed by them.

I gave Dog Games a call today and they were really helpful. My older dog has both types of their harness and they work well on her, but she's a staffie so I couldn't really envisage it in a tiny size and whether it would work!

I've seen these recommended for lurcher escape artists - I know its a different scale, but they can be very slippery...

Yes, but its cheaper than having to retrieve him from the Pound, and a lot less angst ridden... and gives you a handy handle to pull him out of mischief too!

Kisi do bespoke hand made harnesses for escape artist woofers. They do harnesses for canicross and dog who pull too. Very pretty designs too.

Thanks Rosy. I missed your post before mistle but completely agree. After a flying start with recall he seems to have come through his fear stage with a cavalier attitude to his own safety so the pound would actually be the least worst thing I can imagine happening. We really need a harness so we can do more training on a 10m line.
