Butch the Staffie has arrived!

He is so handsome, so wonderful, so well behaved! Collected him on Saturday from his foster father who was very sad to see him go. He is a very laid back chap and spent Saturday evening having a little lie down in different places to find his favourite spot. When he is not on his back on the sofa snoring he quite likes the rug in the hall where he can keep an eye on all of us.

Poor Butch spent 2 years in kennels because no one wanted him, can't understand why as he is a total sweetie.

He hates cats, isn't at all keen on other dogs bounding over to him and I doubt he will have any recall so he will be staying on a flexi lead, none of these issues matter a bit to us. He will however have to learn that the dishwasher isn't storage space for doggie snacks and that bin bag ripping is not a good hobby. Rescue Remedies are looking for foster parents over Christmas and they have some lovely dogs looking for homes - including a darling little bull lurcher who had puppies that all died :-( - I hope some of them will strike it lucky like Butch. We decided to keep his name in the end, though he is very big for a Staffie we have nicknamed him "the Bear" DH says it is like sharing a sofa with a Fresian Cow.

Lucky you getting to share your home with a staffy. They are just like cuddly teddy bears, but do expand to overflow the available sofa space :0)

PersonalClown · 17/12/2012 16:23

Nah you won't need more sofa space. Not if he's anything like mine.
He sits on me demanding cuddles.

Well done you for giving him his much needed home.

I have always wanted to get another dog, but we haven't the time available to give to a dog so they would be happy. Hopefully that will change at some point, but well done to you.

Happy First Xmas with Butch to you all.

We have two rescue Staffies. They are gorgeous and totally rule this house

higgle · 17/12/2012 18:22

He has sad eyes and it seemed wrong to take his name away! He is still learning his way with us, so although he likes cuddles he hasn't started climbing all over us yet, only a matter of time I suspect.

We have a rescue staffy, she has her issues with other dogs and cats but she is so adorable and sweet to people.

Well done you for giving him a home, can we have a wee pic of him?

bamboobutton · 17/12/2012 18:26

Xmas Envy but you're breaking the rules not having a pic on your profile!

I was admiring two staffs today while we had lunch in the city, I must've looked like the poor orphan looking in the toyshop window to their owners Grin
