Does dogs gender matter?

I quite often see a couple who walk 2 Springers, a young one and a very old one. I'm pretty sure the old one is a girl as she is called Molly, but the young one is called Charlie, I have no idea if it's a girl or boy. If they are talking about him/her they just change between saying she and he they always refer to my dog as she or he too and he is a boy.

So does a dogs gender really make a difference?

not really i have had boy and girl dogs and generally the boys have been characters and very boyish and the girls have been very loving sweet and girly

I prefer girls, due to 2
biological differences.

1. Boys cock their leg up far too often, girls squat only once during walkies.

2 Love to stroke girl's tummy for ages without them getting excited down below. My girls fall asleep ! On the whole girls are more cuddly and sweet, but there are some aggressive females and sweet males. Girls can be more nervous than males on the whole. But majority are as issey says.

Both of mine are neutured so I'm not sure if that changes much, but my girl dog like to wee approx every 10 yards when out and will entertain herself running about, playing with other dogs and having a good sniff. Boy dog usually just wees once or twice but needs to be fetching a ball or he just lies there waiting for some entertaining. Not really interested in playing with other dogs.

40 years and around 50 dogs over that time. As a general rule girl dogs never completely trust that you the owner will always get it right or always provide food. Boy dogs believe you will always get it right and will always provide food.
Generally boy dogs are more devoted than girl dogs due to the difference.
There have been exceptions I can think of two. They were both girls who totally trusted that we would always get it right.

There are exceptions as my niece's neutered rescue dog has from the beginning crouched like a female to wee. All other male dogs I see, cock their legs up at every upright structure they pass - tree trunks, bins, bustops, car wheels, lamp posts, and sometimes people's trousers and have never known a female to wee every 10 yards, unless in season when she likes to leave lots of trails for any likely lads around. I once saw a very small Yorkie male do a hand stand to try to get his scent marking as high as possible, it was so cute.

Our girls wee just as much as the boys do on walks

It's less expensive to neuter than to spay

Both genders love cuddles

Both genders are very good with the puppies

The boys usually get slightly more food since they are bigger/bulkier than the girls.

I have a male, neutered, and he is the cuddliest dog ever. I had a bitch growing up, and she was quite independent. My dog now is my shadow, and will sneakily clamber up on to my lap for cuddles at every opportunity. I wonder if breed is more important here than sex? My dog is a cocker/springer cross and not bothered about doggy interaction, but he'd roll in broken glass for a belly rub from a stranger. Oh, and he wees every five steps, but that's the cocker in him

My niece's neutered male ,who wees squatting like a female, loves his chest being stroked and sits on the sofa with me as knows I'm a sucker for those pleading eyes. He is a cross lurcher. I bred Westies, and in one litter of 1 male and 1 female, it was the male who was sweet and gentle and the female a bit of a battleaxe. Both parents were sweet and gentle, and also the maternal grandmother and maternal gt grandfather.

I have two of each, adult male & female and corresponding puppies. I can't say I prefer one gender over the others. One of the girls does as much territory marking on walks as the big boy, the puppies don't do much at all, either one.

when we had a girl dog she peed ALL the time while out walking newdog is a boy and he only pees in the garden will sometimes cock his leg for a wee but very rarely , both dogs were done as puppies not sure if that degenders them or not , boy dog is a bit in your face where girl dog was more timid but maybe that was nature
