Dog poss with giardia?

Never heard of it myself, but likely that six month old pup we got from a working farm in Wales has it... Seems it is some sort of parasite. She's been having sloppy poos for a week and the vet has put her on special gastro sensitive food, and given her some deworming stuff. She was unwell at first but seems fine now. Have got to give her five days the its poo sample time.
Anyone come across this?

Yes, my rescue pup had it and had to have some treatment before coming home. After three days he was absolutely fine and generally now has a stomach of iron.

Yes, one of mine got this, we think from eating wild rabbits. Deworming and simple food for a while. I'm told it can be picked up anywhere in the world, usually through untreated water and, or wildlife.

Once the deworming has killed it off the parasite the dog should be fine.

Giardia can be tricky and can need several far all checks and treatments to get rid of it. It is not always shed so to say a pet is clear you should use a three day pooled sample.
You should be very strict about hygiene as it can be transmitted to people.
