Kennel Cough

My 3 year old JRT has kennel cough which started yesterday. We saw the vet immediately and he's prescribed 7 days worth of medication and suggested Manuka honey all of which we're doing along with no walks, cosy blankets, cuddles, tempting food and plenty of water available.

The poor little thing is really miserable and I wondered if anyone has any tips or advice for making her comfortable whilst she recovers or perhaps any ideas on speeding her recovery.

Our dog had kennel cough badly twice just after we got him and our vet said he could have Tixylix which I think he got addicted to . Good luck with it , ours has been left with a rather damaged trachea and we now have to be really careful with harnesses etc .

Thanks Floral. I've been thinking about changing harnesses so will do some research to find the most suitable one before she's ready to be out and about again. It's horrid to watch them suffer isn't it.

Yours may be ok and not get any after effects . We changed to a Doxlock harness as they're cut lower across the chest so no pressure on his throat . It is horrible when they've got the cough though.
