3 Questions about new puppies

1. Do we actually need dog insurance for our puppy (debate at work about it)?
2. If so , do we go for cheap and cheerful or what-any reccomendations?
3. Puppy poop is abit soft-not quite runny not hard! Is this normal?

1 Yes.
2 No. Get the best you can find - PetPlan, M&S, John Lewis for eg. Scrimping is false economy.
3 impossible to say. How long have you had the pup, where did you get it from and how old is it?

1. yes definately, will be much harder to get it later if and when (and hopefully never) dog has a serious medical problem/accident.
2. depends on the breed, and whether that breed is prone to problems I have a lab so hip dysphasia can be an issue so spent more for life time cover.
3. yes and no. Shouldn't constantly have the squits, puppies can get dehydrated very quickly, and can go downhill rapidly. should be some substance to it. Will be runny if you change their food too soon if a new puppy, or if changing to a new food too quickly with a slightly older puppy. Non food related can also take a day or so to settle into new home if brand new puppy.

1. Yes unless you have so much spare cash that you could afford to pay several thousand pounds if for example he gets squished by a car.
2. Make sure you get one that covers conditions for life, not just a year. (e.g. if he develops kidney problems you will be paying for a lifetime's treatment, diet etc.)
3. Depends on diet. Runny liquid poo not normal. Softish but 'formed' sounds ok. Has it changed? do I really want to know?

1. Yes - and remember that most pet insurance covers you if your dog causes an accident and you get sued. It's not just for vet bills.
2. Same as others have said - check the small print. If your dog was diagnosed with a condition like epilepsy many insurers will only pay out for the first year. You need Life Cover.
3. What are you feeding, how much, how often, how often does he go to the loo?
