Is my dog losing his mind??

We have a Yorkie who is almost 15 years old - he seems mainly fine, although slightly creaky and sleeps a lot (fair enough, he is old!).

However, this week he has twice wandered into the livingroom where we have been sitting and wee'd all over the rug! Not danced around like he needed to go out, just walked in and wee'd. He didn't look sheepish, as if he knew he'd done something wrong though. Definitely one of the times he had only been for a walk 2 hours previously and has always been good a being left for extended periods of time.

Do you think he s just getting old and incontinent? Or would he possibly have something like a bladder infection?

Thanks!

He needs to go the vet for a check up. Take a urine sample with you to save time.

Then at least you will know what's going on. It could be age related, but because of the sudden onset, it may not be. Only the vet can tell you.

Our old lab was diagnosed with a form of dementia - we tried various meds but to no avail. He became very confused and doubly incontinent ........ and it was eventually time to say goodbye. Hope your vet is able to run some tests and determine your dog's problem. x
