how often do you bath dogs?

eric stinks pretty much weekly if he isnt bathed and the house is starting to wiff a bit, I know its a spaniel thing and dont care cause we love him. I bought doggy deodrant which helps a bit but he has to have it on every day when I brush him. Would it be bad to bath him every week I currently go for every 6 weeks as I dont want to cause problems.

I bath Jas as and when he needs it. Sometimes he might go several months, sometimes only a week (depending on what he's rolled in ). I find he needs less baths if he swims regularly, as even pond water cleans his coat relatively well. He honks while wet, but when he dries off he smells just neutral. I keep his coat quite short, though, which helps massively. Sometimes I will just shower him off in plain water, and that does as good a job as shampoo often.

I hate to bring it up, but if Eric is very whiffy....how are his glands?

This time of year, when he gets filthy every time he steps out of the door, he gets showered down, legs and tummy, a couple of times a week. I do his nose, beard and ears when he's got at the gravy plates!

I try to limit whole-body washes as I read somewhere you shouldn't do it too often, but sil does hers several times a week and he doesn't seem any the worse for it.

chickens, dont even go there. he was at vet a couple of weeks ago and Im sure they would have said. he has only been to actual groomers once and they wouldnt trim his coat as they said it would ruin it so just trimmed round his bum, and feet and stuff. He swims a lot.
He has a lovely selection of deo's, asian pear, blueberry muffin and baby powder.
I might start and bath him a bit more then if its ok, I dont really notice the house unless I know someone is coming round and then all I can smell is dog.
