An visiting a litter of goldies on Saturday to pick our boy. Any advice?

Excited and daunted in equal measure. Excellent breeder. Parents have Excellent hip, elbow eye scores etc. what should I be looking for? I'd like a more laid back boy (if that's poss in a pup!). very excited

How lovely I have two male goldies. Ours picked us really -particularly the second one where we had first choice.He kept coming over to us so we had to have him. The breeder may advise if you want a particular temperament. There was one in the litter our breeder said would be very quiet and docile. However I think goldies are laid back dogs anyway- at least mine are unless it is to do with mud or food!

Talk to the breeder. They have spent the last 8 weeks with the pups and should be trying to match you to pup that meets your needs. I wanted a golden to do agility/obedience with so my breeder advised me on the puppy she thought was best.

In my experience, you don't pick the dog, they pick you!

aww im on my 2nd goldie now and he is 18 months now . the first one i fell in love with then travelled 200 miles to get him ..saw him on his breeders webpage and the second one 300 miles same stuation saw his breeders web page .
they are adorable lovely soft things .. they love you so much x

Our breeder chose our current puppy for a start they all looked the same even she could tell them apart and had to mark them and when we went for our screening by the breeder they were only 5 weeks only and were sleeping most of the time. She asked us about what we wanted a dog for what sort of people we were and then choose one that she thought would suit us. He was the most playful and confident one in the litter and is a great success.
I would let her do it she should know them all the only thing is if you have preference for a bitch or a dog (I always favour the latter) you should talk to her about it.

The rescuer picked the Lab out the litter for us. She decided we could handle one who was mad, but with a fab temperament.

She is mad. I love her but she is mad.

The pups will be 5 weeks old. We really want a boy but I could change my mind if pup decides we are hers!! Yes it's our first visit. We have to wait another 3 weeks after that to collect him/het
