My darling wire-haired fox terrier died at Easter. I had a WFT before him, and think I may well get another, but the other day I met a really lovely Irish terrier, about 18 months old, very calm and (seemingly) good tempered. Anyone have experience of the breed? Or similar wirey terriery dogs? My main criteria dog-wise are that it must have a reasonably long snout, it must have whiskers, and not short stumpy legs. Also not yappy. So no Westies, borders or shnauzers. We have two dds, five and 7 so it must be a child friendly breed. I have only ever had dogs, as in WFT's the bitches are a bit madder , but the Irish terrier I met was female and very laid back, so maybe a bitch this time? What do you people think?
