Bloody dog won't stop barking

Please help. Almost year old springer, normally good as gold barking for about two hours..

My dm is here visiting, dh away. I went to bed early. Dm put to bed and he started to bark, she let him out and stayed up another 10/15. She then decided he was hungry and fed him a small bowl of bakers small dog that the westie loves. Springer has natural dog food company and had been fed at 5.30. He is barking non stop since.

Have left him out, checked for water, been stern with etc etc and he is still bloody barking. I need sleep (33week pg, chronic spd, both dc are somehow sleeping through at the moment) what can I do?

I hope he settled in the end? When my dog did this, he had an upset tummy and I didn't realise that every time I let him out he was having rancid poos. I only realised and stopped being shouty with him when he didn't quite make it outside and left a small lake of bloody diarrhea on the kitchen floor. That got my attention.

Get rid of the bakers - its like giving coloured addictive laded sweeties to a young energetic child.

Does he get walked? Spaniels can be high energy dogs and need lot of mental and physical stimulation.

Also giving attention (even if its stern words) will not help if the barking is for no reason.

With night time barking, I let them out to toilet with no eye contact, no talking etc and then go back to bed.

Thanks everyone, I did reply earlier but mn was offline and it was swallowed.

He eventually settled. Drank a lot of water and I sat in the lounge With him for 15 mins. The bakers is for our old westie, it's all she will eat and we are just happy she is eating something. My dm thought she was doing the right thing feeding the springer again but it definitely didn't help matters.

Anyway, he gets lots of outdoor playtime, long walks and swims in the river, only think different about yesterday was that dh has been away, think he was pining Grin
