Have had first session with new trainer tonight and it was very positive. She has suggested I slowly move 7.5 month old (teenager!!!!) onto a lower protien diet as to much can make them hyper . At present I feed fish 4 dogs. Ideally I want something as good as this but lower in protien. Can anyone recommend? :)

Not sure how much protein is in F4D? You could try CSJ CP21 (salmon based)

I'd recommend starting to mix some adult white fish in with the puppy. Adult food is lower in energy but I wouldn't be happy to move a large breed puppy onto entirely adult food.

IMO, they need the additional protein and energy in puppy food until about 9ish months. It does vary by individual though. One of mine needed puppy ration untll she was just over a year old, but another needed to be off it by about 6 months. Depends on how they keep their condition on adult food, the one who needed it the longest couldn't keep enough weight on on adult ration without feeding more volume than her system could manage.

I would be v reluctant to move off F4D if it suits your dog though. It has nothing in it which would normally make a dog hyper - maybe she was just thrilled to be training and had a mad five showing-off minutes!

I do think that to be honest. I will mix adult and puppy and see. At home and in the garden he is fine, he goes mad the minute we leave it though lolBlush
