I'm not sure whether I am over reacting or not, so here goes. Jasper. Constant source of anxiety and regular vet visitor. Usually because he has injured himself in some spectacular fashion. Anyway. I've noticed that he has some periods of rapid breathing. He might be laying down sleeping, but his ribs are going like billy-o. His nostrils also flare. Sometimes, he'll have his mouth slightly open too. His gums are a healthy pink. After a particularly energetic walk, he'll also pant at what seems like an excessive rate for up to 15 minutes. His colour is always good, and there's no wheezing or anything. His energy levels are still set at 'Duracell bunny', and he's still eating everything he can get his snout on. So is this something which needs investigation, or just a normal, energetic dog's breathing pattern? Today, he has been on two walks, ran like a lunatic through the woods etc, but at home he has been breathing rapidly and shallowly. I've given him a thorough once over to see if he had a thorn or grass seed anywhere, but he gave no sign of pain. He's asleep now, mouth closed, but breathing still rapid (think 'labour panting').
