Why oh why has my dog forgotten everything he knew about recall?

I'm baffled.
He is about 6 months old, had very good recall up to last week. Now when I call him, he either looks at me for a while and then deigns to trot over, or runs the other way.

What happened?
What the bloody hell am I supposed to do now?
Why on earth would be suddenly forget?

Have you tried all the usual tricks i.e running away from him while calling him, kneeling down, arms open and sounding exited? Higher value treats?

You could also try a whistle. Use it in the house for the first week or so. Every now and again peep peep on the whistle, feed tasty treat. Once the dog appears as if from no-where when it hears the whistle then you take the whistle outside.

Your dog is a teenager now. He hasn't forgotten. He's just realised he doesn't have to come and you can't make him. If he could speak he'd be shouting "You're not my real mummy. Why should I? Make me"

He is driving me insane with this, and he looks at me like "ok if you want me come and try and catch me"

Hi, my dog did exactly the same thing an I agree, he basically just realised we weren't going to leave him/really hurt him etc which is good in a way as it means he trusts you but also rubbish because they know they don't actually have to come back when you say. My dog is 18 months now and has regained his recall skills (unless there is something far too interesting for him to possibly ignore). The whistle and treat idea is the way to go but just be wary of his weight as we've recently put ours on a diet thanks to too many training treats!
