i buy double duvet and covers. Have a large breed dog and works well

this

If you get one though get A solid cover not a mesh one. Our mesh one ripped after a year at the seam but the other one seems stronger. Our greyhound has one with a fitted fleece over the bed. The fleece can go in the washing machine. The bed cover itself never smells and can be wiped clean if needed.

I found with washable dog beds is that the cover can be washed but not the inside bit. After a while the inside starts to smell.

I bought a tuffies bed as it fit the bill being waterproof and washable and having spent a whopping £70 on it my lab (who has honestly never chewed anything in his life) chewed a hole in it on the first day. He also hates it cos the waterproof covering on it is very noisy... Having said all that though lots of people swear by them Grin

viva those look really great - I was thinking of getting a memory foam mattress for my ageing basset hound's crate, but that seems much more comfy and much less smelly. What size did you get, and how heavy is your grund (if you don't mind my asking)?

We got the large. Dog weighs 27kg. If you click on the different sizes it tells you what breed of dog suits that size.

They do also sell fleece blankets that are elasticated and fit over like a fitted sheet. They don't seem to be on the website though. I saw the company with a stand at a country show only yesterday and they still sell the fleeces.

We've bought 2 or 3 different beds, he seems to think our king size bed is his during the day :-(

I was thinking large too - I saw the dog sizes and wasn't sure a basset would really fit on a medium bed designed for a cocker spaniel! Large sounds about right. I can totally see madam lounging on her raised bunk bed, over a lambskin rug...

Mine's a greyhound and they advised me to get the large. I was worried it wouldn't be big enough but they said it would and they were right. Dogs do curl up a lot when they sleep.

Saying that my stupid mutt has just managed to slip down the gap between her bed and the wall and was totally stuck. It was really funny while I stood and videoed her-- helped her get out!

I think if you asked them what size they'd recommend they'd know what size was best.

They now do igloos/tunnels to fit over the bed. DD is desperate to get one for daft dog, but there's no way she'd use it. She'd just lie down on top of it.

We got this one when our greyhound started to show signs of arthritis.

It's been fine - cover sturdy and has been washed many times.
