most impressed, I know pah isnt the best place to go but it is loal and I need a bag of treats. anyway spotted stag bars and remembered everyone going on about them so Cherry and Eric have spent most of the afternoon chewing away very happily. Most impressed, I only bought the small ones as I thought I would see how we got on definatly not made any leway through them yet so should be good for a while.

Jasper has had his for about 4 months now, and the ends are looking nibbled but it's still going strong. He goes through phases of chomping on it and then buries it for a bit.

stag bars

feesh · 22/08/2012 20:03

I bought one in Solihull PAH when I was back in England last month. My dog LOVES hers - she is actually sat on her mat right now chomping on it. It's almost like she is addicted to it and wants to stop but can't as she is normally fast asleep by now.

I bought a large. She is a saluki - gsd - retriever mix, not the strongest of chewers but I can't see it lasting more than 3 evenings, as she's already chomped one branch off. I wonder if I can import any more or if customs here will confiscate them?!

Lonelylou · 22/08/2012 20:07

Each only lasted 2 days with both my labs, despite the promising write ups Sad

moosemama · 22/08/2012 20:20

Feesh, you can buy them direct here and they ship to Europe, Republic Ireland, USA and Canada if that's any good to you?

TheCunnyFunt · 22/08/2012 21:02

Ohh Dita I'm in Gainsborough :o

sparklystar · 23/08/2012 08:45

Thanks Dita I called our local PAH and am off there today to get 2 for my 2 labs, fingers crossed they last as expected or they will be an expensive treat.

wiggofan · 23/08/2012 14:20

Thanks for posting this OP, just bought a large one for my lab and he loves it, I gave it to him when we got back from his walk. He chewed obsessively for an hour, only a little bit scraped off, then fell asleep with it in his paws Smile

PurpleFrog · 23/08/2012 14:46

We got our lab one in PAH nearly 4 weeks ago and it is still going strong. He chews it most nights. We bought a large one with 2 branches because we thought it would be easier for him to hold. He started chewing the large end closest to the fork and a few nights ago chewed through the join. Luckily dd saw it happen and confiscated the 5-6cm long part that fell off. I think next time we'll just go for an XL straight one. They are expensive but fairly long-lasting (in our case) and non-messy, so I think they are worth it.

TunaPastaBake · 23/08/2012 15:32

Just gave one to my lab - chewed on it for about 15 mins and has left it Confused

www.antlerdogchews.co.uk/index.php

This is where I get my antlers from. They do both a range of sizes and puppy soft to extra tough. Delivery is very quick. I have ordered one day and recieved it the next.

Mine are chewing on their half a flat antler from the speciality chews that I got my GSD for his birthday!

wiggofan · 24/08/2012 12:18

PurpleFrog - did you confiscate the bit that fell off because you thought dog might choke, or are there instructions somewhere saying to do this? I thought I'd just let my lab have it all as there's marrow inside and he's desperate to get at it, he's currently dropping stag bar on concrete path, like he does with kongs, expecting marrow to fall out Grin
He's raw fed and has no problem with bones, just crunches them up small enough to swallow, if they don't go down he gags them up and has another go.

PurpleFrog · 24/08/2012 12:47

Yes - I was worried he'd swallow it and it would cause a blockage. He is not used to cruching up bones etc. I don't know how long it would take stomach acid to dissolve antler!
