Lease says no dogs

My dp owns his flat but it says no dogs in his lease. I'm hoping to move in at some point but have a small dog. Other people in his block do have dogs. Does anyone here have a dog even though their lease says no?

Could you ask the landlord directly if they'd mind?

Wiggypigs · 21/08/2012 22:32

I don't really understand how lease's work. Who would the landlord be?

I don't think anyone has asked for permission as surely they would just be told no. If people started asking and they said yes, then everyone would have to be told yes as well. I'm guessing people have just got dogs and as no one has reported them then they haven't been found out.

We own a flat in a small block and our recent new tenant asked to move in with her dog. I am not sure what it says in Freehold paperwork but we just contacted the management company to ask if it was ok. They were very reasonable and said yes providing it was quiet, no mess outside etc

Cool think I will get in touch with the management company. My dog is 11 and has a health issue which means she probably won't live more than a year so I will tell them this as she really is no trouble
