10 month old pup having accidents over night

advice needed! I have a 10 month old cocker spaniel who is lovely and a very good boy. He has been house trained for months, and when we got him at 8 weeks, was also crate trained. He now sleeps in the kitchen on a night, still in his crate but with the door open so he has the run of the kitchen.
I had my DS 9 days ago, and the dog has been great with him. I sent home baby blankets from the hospital so he could get used to his smell etc. The only problem is that over the past 3 nights the dog has done a wee or several poos in the kitchen overnight. He is let out around midnight for a last toilet stop and then let out and fed about 7am.
I am presuming this is related to the baby? Stress? Has anyone got any ideas how we can handle this to make him settled again? I had a c section so can't really get on the floor and play but my DP plays with him lots and gives him lots of cuddles.

Advice appreciated please xx

Has your routine changed much since having your little one? It might just be that this has thrown his routine out a little?
Maybe you could bring his evening feed an hour earlier to make sure he 'performs' before bedtime (with LOTS of praise), ignore the accidents... telling him off might stress him out a little more. Smile

It has changed a bit. By the time we get going in the morning , dressed etc he is having his walk later in the day. We have a big garden so dp does play ball with him too.

I feel sad for him, but he doesn't look very depressed and is quite perky really. I am going to try to take him round the block for his last walk at night ad he tends to poo then. I just don't like the thought that he is unhappy!

I doubt very much that he's unhappy, just a little out of routine.. and dogs love routine (well mine do anyhow!! lol )
Doing the walk sounds great, you could also try tiring his brain out a little with games in the house if you can't get out so much too... do a bit of training, make it fun like playing hide and seek and stuff, it might make him settle more at night.
I'm sure in time he'll be all sorted, it's early days with the little one as well Smile

Thank you x yesterday we made sure we played a lot more with him, he had a lovely walk in the woods and was fed a bit earlier. This morning there was no poo! Hooray. Lots of praise given when he rushed out of the back door to go to the loo this morning!

That's brilliant news, let's hope he keeps it up! Grin
