What size crate would I need for a Border Terrier?

We are hoping to get a Border Terrier puppy soon and I am wanting to start gathering the things we will need soon.

I was planning on getting a crate to give the puppy a safe haven to assist in training both puppy and ds, as I will impress on ds from the start that if the dog wants to go in his crate then he is not to be bothered. Ds is good and sensible but I know he is excited and I want ground rules from the start.

What size would I need? I have no plans to lock it in for hours on end but don't want the dog to be miserable in a too small crate either.

I have a border and she is tiny, as a pup she was no bigger than a guinea pig, so I would say very small. we had a bigger crate that was a friends and she was fine in that I split it in half so half bed and half paper.

Get one big enough for her to stand up in & long enough for her to lie down without having to curl up.

Thanks.

I've had my eye on one on ebay that is extra small (24 " by 18") so I'll get that to start with and can always get next size up if we need to,

I'm a little excited at the moment but I feel like a new mum, anxious to do everything properly! We have been planning this for a couple of years, waiting for the right time so it's been a little like planning a baby!
