Bleurgh. Jas had me up at 2am because he needed to go outside and be violently sick . This is the third time he has woken me from a deep sleep in the last 3 months. The first time he had extensive diarrhea, and I didn't realise, so he barked solidly for 4 hours (I kept making him get back in his bed Blush). The second time, his arch nemesis (vacuum cleaner) came to life and tried to kill him (or, fell over, anyway). I really need my sleep

erm...once.

Although you've made me feel better about the missing pizza now [hullygully is a bastard dog emoticon]

ChickensArentEligableForGold · 13/08/2012 19:51

I think Jasper has trained me. He woofs and I come running.

Mine only woof if there is someone out there. Last time they did this I looked out of the window to see someone trying to break in next door. I called the police!

thisisyesterday · 13/08/2012 19:54

you know, if this was in behaviour and development people would be telling you to ignore the dog... it has to learn to sleep through Wink
maybe SWMNBN should do a dog guide? lol

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 13/08/2012 19:55

I do get woofed at 5am on occasion but it's out pee and in. She knows this.

As dh has early starts I have trained her to only see me as the official getter upper and breakfast announcer. So as soon as dh has his suit on she goes back to bed till I deign to surface Grin

Ah, to be fair to him every time he's woken me up he has spared my kitchen tiles from a baptism in revolting things. I might have the sickiest, most accident prone dog on the planet

Only once when very poorly with terrible D&V and had managed to hold it in until I let her in the garden. She was wailing and yelping. My dog has extraordinary bladder control.

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 13/08/2012 19:58

Oh and she is only 5 months hence couple of early morning whimpers woods but that has stopped.

Dragondog (rip) only woofed if people were approaching the gate or door. She slept from 10pm to 9:45 am religiously though.

AbsolutelyNotHoneyDragon · 13/08/2012 19:59

Chickens, Hully eats her sick. With gusto. I only know she'd been sick if she's caught in the act Hmm

RedwingS · 13/08/2012 20:10

I think I'd rather be woken for that than not woken, iyswim.

Dog2 woke me up last night to tell me there was an owl in the garden. Every time it hooted, he barked. Hoot hoot, woof, hoot hoot, woof. In the end I shut the window so that he couldn't hear it.

TheCunnyFunt · 13/08/2012 20:22

A couple of times in the beginning when we first got him (6.5 months ago), other than that, none! He doesn't even get up in the morning. I get up, get DD breakfast, I get dressed, get DD dressed, then stand at the bottom of the stairs jangling the lead trying to persuade him to get off his bed and come for a walk. The longest he's gone without the toilet is about 17 hours, I overslept massively and when he did come downstairs he just plodded and pootled around until I shoo'ed him outside for a wee!

Magicmayhem · 14/08/2012 10:04

I have two dogs, they have their last wee at about 10pm, then I don't hear another thing till the morning.. occasionally one of them barks and I let them out for a wee or pooh... but that could be that they've had a treat that has gone through them... If thats the case though, I rather they woke me than me clearing up mess in the morning.

midori1999 · 14/08/2012 12:02

Occasionally, although only one will bark if she is ill so needs to go out to toilet, the others just leave a nice present for me to clear up in the morning.

Unless there is illness, or if someone came into our garden, (which they never have!) then they wouldn't bark or wake me at night.

TheDetective · 14/08/2012 12:06

Never. The only times we have been woken are when she has done a death fart. The kind where you go shit hunting. But find none. And the dog just pretends to be sleeping Hmm

horseylady · 14/08/2012 21:56

Never - they sleep downstairs in their room!!

aliasjoey · 14/08/2012 22:02

He doesn't deliberately, but I'm a light sleeper so if he's restless (hot weather) it wakes me.

Apart from that, a couple of times he's been poorly. I am dreading the time he is really poorly - will I have to make him sleep downstairs? He will think he is being punished Sad

Oh yes, vacuum cleaners - especially the upright kind - coming across them in strange places in the dark - well thats enough to upset anyone.
