Is any one else's dog an idiot or is it just mine?

Prior to finding out that Devil Dog's recall is actually a eleventy million times better without the long line we have been doing more off lead work.

He's great, except if he sees me take his lead out of my bag, maybe just to get my phone or something, he gets all excited like "Omg, my lead. I'm going on a walk. It's my lead. Yay" and bounces relentlessly until I put him back on his lead and let him off again after a few steps Confused

It happens even if he simply hears the metal part of his lead jangle inside my bag. He tortures me to put him back on the lead Hmm

You. Are. Already. On. A. Walk. You. Stoopid. Dog.

My big dog tries to refuse to walk the 3 minutes to the park in the morning, by walking at a pace slightly slower than a snail. Even though he has spent the previous couple of minutes carrying his lead to the front door, then back to me, then back to the front door in excitement.

However as soon as he is actually on the lead and we get to the end of the path, he decides he doesn't want to walk and sits down. Then he gets up, walks another 2 steps, sits down, looks and me and then walks at a snails pace until we actually get to the park where he runs around like a loon chasing plastic.

pimmsdog DH is a total idiot. Went for a lovely family bike ride in the woods today, pimmsdog was on his attachment to the bike and was desperate to run free with the 4DCs, so DH stupidly let him. DD2(5) was going down a hill too fast and screamed pimmsdog decided he would kill save her so chased after her, leapt at her and took her clean off the bike Shock He then sat next to crying DD looking so proud of the fact that he had saved her from the nasty bike, then looked very Sad when he was put back on his attachment and not trusted off lead again.

DD was ok but the rest of us were very concerned crying with laughter Blush

my mum's dog will lay down (in the middle of the road if thats where he happens to be) and refuse to budge (and he weighs 60kg so the refusal often stands!) if he gets so much as a leaf on him. Hmm
