Please tell me cats and dogs do get better as tonight has been a shock.

We try hard to keep the cats and Flynn separated, our dominate cat rules the house whilst our meeker cat is fairly tolerant of him.

Tonight our cat was on the windowsill by the back of the sofa, Fynn was sitting by my feet, he was very calm and showing no interest in the cat, in fact I don't think he knew she was there. Without warning she jumped off the sofa and attacked him then turned around and went for me.

I am heartbroken that bringing in Flynn has affected our cat so badly, that Flynn has been hurt and worried about the what could happen to him if she does this again or if the children are close by to get caught up in the crossfire.

I know I will have to be totally vigilant on keeping them apart, but I never wanted to be the person who shuts their cats away when they get a dog. My bil did this as he couldn't be bothered with his cats once he got his dogs and I swore I would be different.

If anyone has any advise how to make things easier much appreciated am considering feliway if anyone has had any success with this?

Feliway worked with us when our cat was being attacked by neighbours cat and also our cat once bit and scratched at me because the DC hurt her (stepped on tail accidentally cat ran across room and swiped at me). We think our cat used to go for the nearest adult when hurt so maybe your cat is taking out its frustrations on you as the adult and hopefully will be the same as ours and not attack the DCs
