Tips on Sandy Balls - the holiday park, not a medical problem...!

Once everyone has finished giggling about the name, I just wondered if anyone has taken their dog to Sandy Balls - its a holiday park in the New Forest. Have booked a week down there and it will be our first trip away with the dog. Would love some tips on dog friendly days out and places to eat etc if anyone has been.

Cheers! Oh and our pooch is a bitch so she definitely won't be suffering from the above!

Alice Lisle pub in New Forest is very nice and dog friendly.

West Moors Valley park is great. There is a train, adventure playground, tree top walk and plenty of good walking.

Nice walks through New Forest. Do tick treat your dog before you go!

Local beaches all lovely and dogs allowed in certain areas.

Dogs to be kept on lead in Sandy Balls itself if I recall, nice walk along river Avon which runs through SB.

A few cyclists cycle way too fast round SB and one ran over a lead of a dog on a long line, hurting the dog, so a short lead may be best.

I feel SB is more dog friendly than Center Parcs. Take games, dvds etc for wet weather days.

Have a lovely holiday. We got loads of giggles at the the name.Grin

Thanks Maddiemost - Moors Valley sounds fab, particularly as I have kids too so both parties happy!

The Beach Hut at Friar's Cliff, Christchurch is a good dog friendly cafe (outside seating). Dogs have to stay on the promenade at directly infront of the cafe (May-Sept), but can go on beach at Highcliffe and in nature reserve at Steamer Point (be careful of sections near cliff though).

East Lepe cafe (past Beaulieu) also has an outdoor seating area next to the beach and you can walk dogs in the country park.
