Help! Stupid dog ate a lily flower!

I know they are supposed to be toxic to dogs, chased him round the garden which was probably not the thing to do as he gulped it down! I gave him some food and pretty soon afterwards he vomited up the lot, including the remains of the lilly and some ham he'd had before. He seems ok now, should I do anything? Any advice much appreciated

Phone a vet !!! It's good he has vomited it up but u have no idea if any has gone thru his system! the vomiting in itself may be a sign he's not right

i'd certainly phone the vet....lilies are highly toxic. Cause liver damage I think.

I adore lilies and rarely have them in the house because my baby cats love to eat all flowers

I'd imagine vomiting it up has helped though!

I've phoned the vet but haven't had a call back yet (they were all with clients). Honestly, having a dog is more of a worry than having DCs! He's a complete hoover, eats everything!!

When my dog ate something similar she was given charcoal to help get it out of her system. I now always have charcoal bicycles from pets at home in the house. Hope vet gets back to you soon

Lucky your dog isn't a cat Grin
Lillies are mildly irritating to dogs digestive systems but lillies are not toxic to the kidneys of dogs like they are to cats.
By vomiting it up she has self medicated also. Just feed her a bland diet for 24 hours and if she still seems off colour take her to the vet tomorrow.

Vet phoned back - he said that as the dog had vomited pretty much straight away all should be ok, obviously just to keep close eye on the situation. Dog seems fine now, has been running round the garden like a loon despite the heat Smile. Toomuch - yes, vet said lillies are much worse for cats. I've cut them all off now anyway Sad
