Bloody dog rolled in fox shit again!

This is not normally a huge problem for me, the smell is disgusting clearly, but I'm pregnant at the moment, dh is out so have had to deal with this myself. I've wiped her down thoroughly with parazone toilet wipes and have just had the hose pipe out for playtime for 5 minutes. She is now thoroughly rinsed of any trace of parazone chemicals and fox shit. Do I need to take her inside and bath her? I feel really guilty about using the wipes, but I need to know I've nuked all the nasties in the poo!
When I say she plays with the hosepipe, she likes it in on the power setting and I managed to hose her off for 5 mins whilst she was busy trying to pounce on and kill the jet of water, so she has been very thoroughly rinsed.

I always put mine in the bath (using shower attachment) and wash with shampoo. Wear rubber gloves if necessary. Wiping doesn't really do it properly; Neither does cold water. thankfully, our current dog doesn't roll. This was previous dog's favourite thing!

Apparently tomato ketchup is the best thing to get rid of the smell of fox crap,it neutralises the odour.

Hi there.. I am going through the same thing. Since I got pregnant my hubbie has been walking the dog more, but took her out this morning and she's rolled in fox poo.. I am getting really sick of it though as it's so unhygienic with a two year old around plus another baby on the way and she always does it again and again despite me telling her not to! She is too heavy for me to lift in the bath at the moment so have had to wash her in the garden with shampoo... it's reassuring to know I am not alone with this problem!

Mine too this morning! He was very pleased with himself. Got put under the freezing cold tap in the woods and then a shower when we got back. Pretty sure there's an aroma of eau de poo in the house still though.

LookBehindYou · 21/07/2012 11:59

I think this time it might have been goose poo. Revolting smell.

juliewooley · 21/07/2012 13:33

Eau de poo, lol!! Same here, keeping getting whiffs... hubbie home now so will get him to bath her. The thing is she's so quick to do it, I never get to stop her in time... real pain in the backside!

Ketchup kills the smell Grin

LookBehindYou · 21/07/2012 14:56

The dog is smelling okay now but will definitely try ketchup next time. Do you just rub it in and rinse off?

Pickles77 · 21/07/2012 14:59

Yep or tee tree, works a treat. Something to do with the acidity.
Got a stupid terrier! And a fox in my back garden that hides presents for him!!! Angry I've learnt to be very quick though..!

Lara2 · 22/07/2012 12:29

I have 2 who do it nearly every morning. DH calls it Fox Shit No.5 Grin

LookBehindYou · 22/07/2012 12:49

The worse thing I've ever had to deal with is dead seal. Ugh.
Fox Shit No. 5, lol!

PrettyPrinceofParties · 22/07/2012 15:59

Don't used ketchup, it's a PITA to rinse off. It's the vinegar that neutralises the whiff so white vinegar is your best bet. Works on carpets that have been wee'd/pooed on too.
