Ancient dog!

We've inherited a dog which by best guesses is around 15/16 years old. I've no idea what breed: he looks faintly foxlike!

Anyway, he's lost some bladder control over the last week or so, usually when he's sleeping. Today he's also collapsed on his hind legs a couple of times. :( have taken him to the vet who has asked for a urine sample to rule out any infection first. This evening though, he's collapsed on his hind legs, lost all bladder control and just lay there in the urine until DH picked him and laid him on his blanket. He has since stood up again, and resettled himself.

It doesn't sound good does it? All his other vital signs were ok.

Get him checked out either tonight if he is distressed or seems otherwise unwell, or first thing tomorrow (most vets will be open Sat morning at least). See what they say. There are lots of reasons why dogs go 'off their legs'. Some are serious and others can be managed - its hard to say what category your dog falls into without looking at him. Good luck xx

Thanks. He's not distressed. That's something I guess. Will ring the vets tomorrow morning.
