TeacakeDog (a rescue) was quiet as a mouse her first couple of nights. She has now started howling and crying at night! She has enough water and a comfy bed that she has been quite happy to lie on on and off throughout the days. I am just ignoring her and hoping it will wear off... This is correct, yes...?!

Though she has stopped at the moment... Fingers crossed... She did that before then started again!

How is she today? Did you get a quiet night in the end?

With all my rescues, I've found that they take a few nights keeping their heads down in the hopes they are staying, then a few nights to try boundaries and then in approx 2 weeks they start showing their real character.

What is she?

my rescue was the same, like MrsZoidberg said it take them a little while to settle in and not think you are going to abandon them. Ours has been with us 3 months now and is totally part of the family and our friends all comment on how happy and content he is now, he has suddenly gone from being a scared, nervous dog to be a cute, loveable, little puppy (guessing as he is 2 he feels he can be a puppy in our home unlike where he lived before). We are getting to know his cheeky character now and it definitely worth the hard first few weeks.

Hope you had a better night, enjoy your new family member

One of mine was the same at nights to start with. If having her in the bedroom is not something you want to do, I think you just have to be consistent and give her time - it takes them a while to settle in and understand the routine and how things work in a new home.

Is this the Rottie bitch you mentioned you were looking at before?
