Ok

so far pup gets

Heel - Walk next to me
Look - Oi you focus
Sit - sitting
Wait - waiting
Down - lie down and you'll get the bloody liver
Leave it!!
Off!!

What word and attitude to a use to keep her calm when people approach her in the special way they approach puppies ie

Squeeeeeeee, hello lovelylcome here Hmm

At home she has to sit and be calm for fuss and is doing her best for visitors. Out she is getting excellent I walking past interesting things at keeping to heel.

But if she senses any opportunity for a fuss she loses it when she's out.

She scratched my daughter on the face today on her way up Sad to someone today.

What command words (other than down) that roll of the tongue do you use and what action?

Or should I struggle with keeping her in a sit, until she gets that only I, not random people can release her ?

Or shall I strap her to a skateboard?

I use "gentle" in a low drawn out tone. I translate this as " don't start flipping out being over excited, jumping up etc with your big fat bum knocking people over "

He translates it as " aww I can't go daft but if I wag my tail hard enough I will fall over then I can squirm at their feet which is even more adorable"

I have a working cocker spaniel - aged 7, but still jumps up, goes dizzy etc.

I use the word "gently", said in a gentle manner. It seems to stop her being quite so impetuous. It doesn't work miracles, though!

I use settle having previously used it whe he is settled quietly so he knows what I mean. As him name is fetlar the command has become settle fettle.

Liz thats a good tip about fussing / acknowledging her when she's settled and using the word.
