So we've had our rescue heeler/hound cross for a bit over a month. We're in Virginia in the US and it's been very hot & humid. He is shedding like I've never seen. We've had a beagle and a dachshund in the past and while the beagle shed, it's nothing like this. He gets brushed every day and I bought something called the "Furminator" to go after his undercoat. My question is, approximately how long can I expect this to go on? Is there anything else I can do to either minimize the shedding?
Second question. He has a tendency to pee on DH. Really it's mostly on DH but it also happens when he's scared (the other day when I put his collar on and today when I gave him a bath for the first time). I don't think there's anything medically wrong but I'm going to make an appointment with the vet for later this week. What can we do to build up his confidence and stop him peeing on DH? He'll be going to training classes starting in the next couple of weeks. I think DH needs to do more with the dog but that's not what DH is going to want to hear - he likes the dog but it is clear I am DDog's primary caregiver.
Thanks for any tips!
