She is 7 months old and was rescued from a home where she wasn't fed or walked and is therefore not housetrained. She's been with us for a couple of weeks and has settled in wonderfully with our other dog, but she isn't getting the housetraining. Our main problem is that she just doesn't want to go outside if it's wet or the ground is wet.
If it's dry I keep the doors open and put their beds on the patio, which they love and all is good. If it's wet however she will dig her heels in and try hard not to go outside. Obviously we praise her when she does go outside and stop her mid flow if we catch her inside.
She also seems to prefer carpet - which isn't great obviously.
What can I do? She isn't crated as she'd never been in one and hated it when we tried it. She's often but not always gets through the night without an 'accident'.
