Kennel cough

can they still get it when vaccinated against it?

Or are there different types of cough?

My big dog started coughing on Saturday. It sounded like something was stuck but we had a good look and found nothing. She is still coughing but it's no worse with exercise and she's happy, not drinking excessively nor running a temperature.

This evening, the pup has started?! The same cough.

Will go to the vet tomorrow as it's obviously not right, but both are vaccinated against kennel cough, and neither have been in contact with anything with kennel cough (to my knowledge).

Any ideas?!!

The vaccination covers some, but not all of the causes of KC not to mention all the other causes of upper respiratory infections. Most of these diseases can be carried on clothes.

Yes that's what I though about kc. A bit like a flu vaccine. Oh well I'll take them tomorrow anyway. As I said they don't seem ill but it just concerns me they both have it and it's the same sort of cough?!

How do you know it's a pollen reaction?

horseylady · 12/06/2012 20:55

Gosh I am fascinated! Do they do allergy test and results here and then?

horseylady · 12/06/2012 21:02

:) I'll not respond to that but I trust my vet :)

I don't understand your reply. I wasn't being funny, I seriously wanted to know because my friends cockapoo has just started coughing and has not been near any kennels or other coughing dogs.
