Sorry, it's a DM link but I couldn't resist here. I'm very happy with my lil' Welsh terrier though Grin

Blimey !

That first dog is not a dog it's a Yettie !

PersonalClown · 15/05/2012 20:11

I'm sure the first one is a bear of some description!!

I want the St Bernard in the second pic. He looks sooo cute.

TheCunnyFunt · 15/05/2012 20:36

I think the first one could be a Newfoundland crossed with a bear

tazzle22 · 15/05/2012 20:59

my neighbour up the street has a leonburger ........ has been taking child for a walk past our house for years Wink

TheCunnyFunt · 16/05/2012 07:01

What's a leonburger?

multipoodles · 16/05/2012 08:08

We were in Cambridge a few years ago and sitting outside a cafe was a man with 5 Leonburgers, all lying down, it was just a carpet of dogs. They were lovely, massive, hairy and slobbery, not my thing but a joy to look at. In USA when they castrate dogs before puberty (at 8wks old in some cases) it prevents growth plates closing and in some breeds they just get much bigger than they would naturally grow to, so I have read anyway. Looks like these ones are pretty much donkeys in disguise!

AnEcumenicalMatter · 16/05/2012 08:23

Meh. None of those dogs are that big for their breed.

The Newfoundland pic is deceptive...the coat is neglected so there's much more of it than there should be which makes it look bigger (wider) than it is. And the dog is sitting upright on the grooming table which is about 3 feet off the floor. And the table is maybe 4-5 feet long and the groomer is therefore several feet further from the camera than the dog is, skewing the perspective further. When my Newfoundland stands on the sofa with her paws on the back of it she looks about 8 feet tall but she's just average size for a Newf.

The Dane, Mastiff, Pyrenees (if that's what it is...all those white mountain dogs look the same to me) look distinctly average size. Only the Irish wolfhound looks like it might be slightly oversized but difficult to tell in the awkward position it's sitting in. I don't even know what that creature is in the last pic to have any frame of reference for what size it should be! I'm guessing some type of wolf crossed with domestic dog breed as is not uncommon in parts of the US and Canada. Glad it's and it's scary ass eyes aren't sharing my sofa!

I've seen all those pics before. None of the dogs seem that big to me.

My mum has a Leonberger. He can put his paws on DHs shoulders and DH is 6ft!! He's the softest laziest thing in the world though.
