Getting Ear Drops into a Springer

My Springer has an ear infection in both ears. It's been about a year since the last one, and he clearly remembers what the drops bottle looks like!

I have to try and get 4 drops down his ear canal and 4 drops around the ear. Even with dh holding tight it's proving almost impossible. He started to growl at us and he is a totally benign lover-dog who never growls.

Any advice about how to administer as he is significantly more resistant this time round and he and we are getting mighty stressed out.

I don't really know, but my springer took eye drops really well. I had him in a sit-stay with a pot of treats visible. Treated immediately after each drop. After a couple of doses he would sit when he saw the bottle of drops. Haven't had to do ears yet though. Perhaps they're more unpleasant. Post when you find a solution!
