If your dog poops, you pick it up - right?

I've got a 5 month old lab pup. He's great if a little prolific in the pooping department. Grin

I've got friends who have dogs too. Naice people but I've been interested to see that they don't always pick up the poop because they say it's not necessary.

Their dogs did their business in the roots of a tree on a suburban street, in the grass on a hill leading down to a lake in the country - a place where families come to play, walk, picnic etc and in the area of school grounds where the school had dumped old computers, footballs and the like ready to be taken to the dump. Metres away from where kids play.

I was Hmm because I just don't think dog crap should be left anywhere someone might come across it or am I being precious?

I think responsible owners always pick it up.

havingabath · 05/05/2012 09:57

They are the horrific entitled idiots who give the rest of us a bad name and shit on our shoes! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

WinkyWinkola · 05/05/2012 10:01

But they would argue that there just isn't enough traffic in those spots to warrant picking it up. I mean, the grass verge leading to a lake might get someone walking there in a week or two or maybe not until summer.

I am of the view if your dog does a crap you deal with it. I said that to my friends but they just snickered as if I am a new dog owner and I would learn. I should have said as someone who regularly gets dog shit on her shoes and as a child on her hands, it's revolting.

I seriously hate people like that. Selfish arses. Makes me want to throw my son's dirty nappies at them!

pickledparsnip · 05/05/2012 10:15

Dog poo never came on my radar til I had a child. Now it seems to be evetywhere we go. I hate cleaning it off shoes.

pickledparsnip · 05/05/2012 10:15

*everywhere

havingabath · 05/05/2012 10:26

What they mean is they won't stand in it, children will though. arses!

AdoraBell · 05/05/2012 12:58

I do, OH doesn't because it's disgusting- like leaving it isn't - and anyway if it's not in our garden it doesn't matter, does itAngry

Can you tell I'm currently a large bit pissed off?

ChickensHaveNoLips · 05/05/2012 14:35

I pick up everywhere, unless he poos deep in the undergrowth in the woods.

Pearla · 05/05/2012 14:47

I run after people and hand them a pop bag whilst shaming them if I see anyone leave it ANYWHERE. Nobody's been bold enough to refuse to pick it up yet. They must sense that my wrath is great. Wink But yeah, you always pick it up. I know people that won't bother if it's "offroad" and I think that's a lazy attitude that probably translates into the rest of their dog ownership.

Pearla · 05/05/2012 14:49

POO bag, although pop bag sounds like it could be interesting.
