Dog inflicted injuries....

It's well known that if you fall off a horse, nobody will feel very sorry for you. Is there any pity to be had for injuries caused by dogs? One of ours gave me a nasty rope burn when he legged it on the end of a line, and more recently has buggered up my knee by crashing into it and knocking me over.

The doc said the knocking over injury was pretty common amonst dog owners. So... what has happened to the frequenters of the Doghouse?

Yikes. I will give you much sympathy for the rope burn, I've had that myself. Also a ginormous bruise when my ankle got caught in a loop in the rope and the dog went running off. I haven't yet ended up in a ditch but have come close several times to being dragged in, in pursuit of mice or rotten banana skins.

Hope your knee is better soon.

Yes to rope burn when using an extending lead which is why I hate them.

I have also been knocked over by dogs in the park. Now, when I see playful dogs in the park, I cling to a tree.

I was playing dodge chase with a particularly thick headed lab, only we both went the same way, his head hit me right in the back of the knee and we both ended up in a very undignified heap on the grassy path.

I was black and blue from mid calf to lower thigh. I don't play that game anymore.

My dog decided to run after a ball, by going through my Mums legs...knocked her clean off her feet. Winded but not seriously hurt!
My previous dog managed to jump (trying to be helpful) as I bent to pick her up - she hit me under the chin and I bit through my tongue.

Haha! This is a well timed thread. I'm currently sitting with my feet up 1 month into recovery after sustaining a tibial plateau fracture. An operation, a plate in my leg and a number of screws later...Shock
This was from a dog running into the side of my knee.
I'm looking forward to another three months of rehab, apparently. Sad

Recently recovered from knee op after having problems which I believe was as a result of being completely knocked offs feet by my lab running around with another Like another poster said I now hug a tree when dogs start running around.
Have had the rope burn aswell.

Not me but my mum. Years ago we were walking up the castle and the 2 dogs were play fighting. The lab knocked into my mums knee and seemed to hurt her. We walked the mile back home and my mum ended up going to the docs. The next day she was in theater getting surgery because the dog had torn her ligaments in her knee. She was in a cast for 6 months and had to have physio to learn to walk again.
My dog (dalmation) when i was about 18 pulled me over and i broke my ankle, then when my mum was looking after him while i was on holiday he did the same to her.

I think I got of lightly! The damage these animals do to our knees! Ouch!

I have two weak ankles from two separate dog incidents - one was a dog i was handling at the vets where i worked. A blood hound with disagreable owners (irrelevant) decided to have a paddy and i ended up twisting my ankle and it knocked me over. The owners were PFB and the dog was a brat!

My dog pulled me over and i sprained the other ankle a few months later Hmm

Nearly got knocked out as my rottie took off in fright after a bike came really quickly round the corner - he was on a flexi lead (stupid!!) and he shot off after my DP and DD who were walking ahead, and i was in mid air and nearly connected with a fence post.

Have multiple scars on my arms from working at the vets but those weren't dogs, those were cats!

Nothing here, unless you count being whipped with the tail? I friend re-homed her lab after he broke her leg saying hello. He jumped up and knocked her flying. She couldn't manage him with her leg in plaster, so he had to move on.

I was knocked clean off my feet by an off duty Guide Dog, of all things.

The comical part was that, prior to the collision, I was chatting to the (blind) owner of said guide dog who (obviously) didn't realise that I was no longer standing next to him, but was sprawled on my back on the sand.

He looked most bemused that I had apparently suddenly vanished.

No injuries, thankfully, not even to my ego as noone actually 'saw' the incident Grin

as a teen i was taken out from behind by our family dogs. they had a game of running to the top of the garden and racing back down round the corner. i was standing around the corner with my back to it and they took a leg each. my head hit the ground first but it was only grass Hmm

also recently when letting my own dog in from the garden he rushed in not looking and went straight through my legs, but he is a massive golden retriever and his head sort of got wedged in my crotch and i felt a definite 'crack'. it was very sore for days after but no lasing damage thankfully.

Bruised toes from leaping on my feet. Bruised and swollen knees from accidental headbutts. I once caught my thumb when playing with a ball on a sharp canine - tooth I mean - and had the top bit fall off.

I user to get scratches all down my belly from being jumped up at but thankfully that's a habit that has been mostly tamed.
