Spaniel peeing issues

Hiya, we have a 6 month old working cocker who is totally gorgeous and really well behaved as a general rule.

She sleeps in a crate over night and is let out at about 11/12pm for a pee then is let out in the morning at 7/7.30am.

However, 50% of the time she will have peed in her cage! Our other 2 dogs (GSPs) never peed in their cages when puppies and I thought that as a rule dogs would not pee where they sleep.

Does anyone have any ideas about why she's doing this and how we can stop it? I thought as she's 6 months old she would not have to be let out half way through the night, but maybe that's the case?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I would take her to the vet to check there's no underlying problems. By 6 months my dogs were housetrained and could go through the night. You could also try not letting her have water after a certain time of night, but I'd check out the vet first.

I would 2nd taking her to the vets. It is unusual for dogs to pee in their beds. I would definitely make sure there arent any underlying health issues.

Agree with others that she needs attention. No dog will soil unnecessarily, especially if they already know their "routine".

I will also stick my neck out and say that a properly socialized dog will prefer to stay in an open basket overnight, rather than wander off into bedrooms etc

Thanks, I'll get her checked out.

Our other dogs aren't crated at night, but she has a tendency to wind them up and not let them settle at night which is why she's in a crate but in the same room.
