Struggling with ill dog

Not really much point to this post but am in tears of frustration/upset

Dog had taken to pooing in house and it had blood in it. She has been having treatment from the vet, back yet again on thursday.

She goes outside when she can and tells us she wants to still but it seems she doesn't have complete control.

But its the blood splatters/poo on the carpet that is getting to me. One carpet has been completely ruined (its wool) and we will have to replace it. We have limited where she can go but I'm worried about the other carpets (though they are synthetic and seem to clean more easily).

We are in rented so it's very stressful worrying about the damage.
And the cleaning up is grinding me down. It seems my life revolves around crap at the moment

I completely understand what you are going through. I have a boxer dog with colitis. It flared up this week and it was hell. Luckily we have wooden floors but mopping the floor at 1.30am was not fun. He crys at the door to go out and then when we take him he tries but can't do anything, it's awful to see him struggling. His medication works within the day though. I hope yours gets sorted out for you soon

So sorry, that must be grim for you all.

Get the carpet steam cleaned after she's better. Also - when we were changing some carpet recently, the salesman said you can use bleach on mos synthetics. I've not tried it, but might be worth trying (do spot test first!!!)

I have kind of been through it before. Our old dog had cancer in his throat and towards the end it made him sick. It ruined our brand new hall carpet but it was our house and we lived with it.
This just seems more stressfull because its not our house.

And then theres the guilt for wishing she would get better so that I didnt have to deal with it when a nice person would just be caring about their dog

Yes I had a chap round and he said the wool carpet was beyond it but the synthetic stuff would probably be ok with a clean.

Not entirely sure, thinks its an infection thats causing the irritation. Then of course everytime something passes the irritated area it flares up again. Which of course is often

When our previous dog had constant bloody diarrhoea the vet kept him in until it had subsided, but later when he was just old, incontinent and had doggie dementia we had to do a lot of clearing up. Can't say much except that it is horrible when this happens - can you buy some plastic sheeting to put down?

Poor dog, I hope the vet can suggest something to help :(. I know how horrible it is having to keep cleaning up messes, my older dog is not always able to be clean in the house, and I really regret ever getting carpet - never again!

I would try to protect the carpets as much as you can, put down sheeting or old blankets or something, maybe take her outside at regular intervals during the day (not waiting for her to tell you she needs to go out)?

Do you know what the cause of the diarrhoea is - could it be diet related?

Only reason I ask is that a friend of mine had similar problems with her dog and in the end put it on a raw diet for a while - raw chicken etc, and it cleared up really quickly. She also gave her dog some live natural yoghurt on its dinner to replace some of the bacteria the dog was losing from its gut.

Not diet related she's had the same food since forever. It's chappie and vet said its actually one of the best for digestive problems. It's not even diarrhoea anymore, quite solid but with separate blood squits. I'm thinking the meds have cure the actual original problem but the intestines ate struggling to heal with the constant use.

So she seems to be better but has carried on shitting in the house. I took her out this morning she went straight back into the house and went and had crap. Took her out again, she did the same again. I've just been upstairs and trodden in a shit with my barefoot. Its not like she doesn't get to go out. Its behavioural now but no idea how to sort it. Its pissing it down with rain or I would leave her in the garden for long periods of time. I can't do this any more I'm never getting another dog, I feel incredibly guilty I don't want this any more I can't cope
