How long do dogs moult for?

Hi, my young dog (a staffie cross) has started to moult. Despite daily brushing she is leaving copious amounts of hair everywhere. Just wondered if anyone knows how long this is likely to go on for? I'm having to hoover daily just to keep on top of the worst of it!

It goes on and on and on. About 3 weeks. Then stops. Then starts all over again.

All day, every day, 365 days a year!

Forever and ever and ever.............

When doesn't hair come out? Our house is hairy and muddy. I have recently bought a steam cleaner which is BRILLIANT!! You may need to get used to living in a hairy house if you have better things to do than hooverGrin

For smooth coated dog as well as brushing use a marigold glove just very slightly dampened, long firm strokes (sounds a bit rude!) and even after brushing you'll get loads more hair off. It can last up to 6 weeks, but with dogs living indoors, changes of temperature all the time it can last forever. Good luck :)

Buy a furminator which will help.

But dogs do shed all the time. Everywhere.

Mine has being moulting now for exactly 8 years and 6 days.

I don't think he has any intention of stopping.

Ever.

Make friends with your hoover. Use it often and smile. Brushing often helps if you close your eyes and stand on one leg

2 heavy/double coated dogs here. They only moult twice a year...January to June and then July to December Hmm.
