An interesting chart that shows how 'wolfish' dogs are

Well they've got that all wrong, they forgot to put 'feline' on the Whippet's line Wink

I am surprised that sighthounds have hearding in their bloodlines. They're far too lazy for anything like that Grin

I've heard that it is a lot to do with neoteny - how much dogs retain juvenile characteristics into adulthood.

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 11/04/2012 21:42

I had that exact same thought about the sighthounds D0oin :o maybe they have like, special motorised sofas on wheels that they ride around on doing herding :o

Hah! You can read it now, eh?! Good, innit Grin

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 11/04/2012 21:50

Just about, it's bloody difficult and I can't make all of them out, but I can just about read most of them.

Spag, I just nearly spat my water over the computer laughing at the idea of motorised sofas for grunds.... Grin I love it!!

Like you I am not convinced. The thought of our three running round after livestock all day - nah... If there were genes for "Swanking around looking aristocratic while the Border Collies go off and do all the real work" then we'd be on to a winner. Grin

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 12/04/2012 12:26

Although now I think about it, as lazy as they are they bloody move when they want to. I was amazed at sprocket chasing that cat last week, hoooooooooge field and he got from one side to the other in about 10 seconds.

Slept for about 5 hours solid afterwards though, mind.

Lol at motorised sofas.

My old lurcher used to work in tandem with our BC at squirrel-catching. They developed a manouevre where the BC would run a wide loop and head the squirrel off from the trees, and the lurcher would zoom in for the kill. Deadly, unfortunately for the squirrels, but quite impressive to watch the cooperation.

Is there a gene for building igloos out of blankets? Because my borrowed whippet is well skilled at that.
