Fleas on new puppy

Hi have been lurking in the doghouse for a few weeks whilst I've been waiting overexcitedly for my new puppy to arrive. She came on Saturday and is jumping with fleas! She was front lined on Friday before we picked her up but I got a large live flea off her yesterday and 2 this evening . I have washed bedding and sprayed the house with a spray I got at the vets today- is there anything else I can do - poor little Luna (the pup) is obviously uncomfortable - so I would like to speed up the process of getting rid of her unwelcome "friends" ASAP! I am also starting to itch in sympathy so would love to hear any helpful hints on fighting fleas. Am on MN so late as can't bear putting her in her crate too long at night. Last night she did 1-7 am and was pretty good although did cry a bit - last puppy was 8.5 years ago so I had forgotten ( or chose to forget!) how much puppy sitting you have to do in early weeks!

oooh dear. Did you get her from a reputable breeder??? Sounds like you didn't. When we got our cat he was riddled with fleas they were crawling up his nose. it was awful. We did as you are doing, frontilne, trip to the vets etc. Sprayed the house. We also got more spray from a pet shop just to be double sure. The did eventually go but it took ages as they had got into the furniture etc. Has pup been wormed? I'd get that checked too. Flea infestation can be absolutely dreadful. Once they get into your soft furnishings that are horrendous. Good luck and congrats on your new puppy.

Please make sure you report this to the breeder. Was it a reputable breeder? How did you find them? If they are licensed by the local authority, then please make sure you report it to them. Failure to manage parasites would be a huge red flag for me. No reputable breeder would neglect something this simple, but potentially important.

Hope Luna settles in well. Smile

Hi AllergictoNutters andScuttlebutter thanks for your responses good to know that I am doing the right things. She is a crossbreed from a farm that is near to my MIL so she is not from a registered breeder or a pedigree. I suppose with a farm puppy you are more likely to get fleas! As an extra precaution I had her washed at my local dog groomers with a gentle tea tree solution and they couldn't find any more fleas so hopefully I got all the blighters last night. She's utterly delightful calm and very clean speaks too soon
doing all wees and poos outside and whimpering as she wants to go out. I'll put pics on my profile if I can work it out.
