I need to train Jasper to ignore my chickens instead of running laps around the coop barking. Any suggestions? I know I'll never be able to let him near them without a fence, but it would be nice if he could ignore them.

I remember you asking this and minimuu gave you some advice I think. Could you try practising an extended down stay near them? Kind of with the idea that he would start to relax around them and eventually not find them exciting. Or, and I think I found this on Karen Pryor's website (clicker), but can't remember what she called it, you click and treat every time he looks away from them, leading to him ultimately not being interested (her example was to prevent counter surfing, and it worked for us - I can see it potentially working with chickens too!).

Ah, thanks. I really don't want to go down the water squirting route.

We did the extended stay and petting when he ignored for a second or two and after a full day he doesn't bother with them even if they come relatively close to him when free ranging.
